Thoughts/Memories Upon Re-watching this Movie:
-When I was young, I didn't understand that this was the original "Rescuers" movie since I saw "The Rescuers Down Under" before I saw this one.
-I think Madame Medusa got driving lessons from Cruella DeVil.
-Medusa is probably one of the most mentally abusive Disney villains.

Did You Know.....?
-Walt Disney was involved in the early stages, but died before production.
-Disney's first big success after "The Jungle Book" and last before "The Little Mermaid".
-This film marked the end of Disney's "sketchy" animation. The xerographic process restored a softer outline, which was not possible with the previous technology.
-On January 8th, 1999, 3 days after the films 2nd release on home video, The Walt Disney Company recalled 3.4 million copies due to an image of a topless woman in one of the background frames. "The Rescuers" video was reissued on March 23rd, 1999.

Thoughts Upon Re-watching this Movie:
-Andy and I laughed so much watching it! It is really funny!
-Pooh's exercise song is pretty much him admitting that he's fat and proud of it.
-If you watch this movie again, I think you will find that Pooh and Rabbit have some of the best dialogue.

Did You Know...?
-This was the last film Walt Disney himself had any personal involvement in. "Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree" was released during his lifetime as a cartoon short. He also worked on "Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day" before he died.

Thoughts/Memories Upon Re-watching the Film:
-This movie has always been one of my favorites. I remember renting it multiple times from the video store.
-My friend and neighbor Monica and I watched and quoted this movie together.
-Prince John and Sir Hiss were our favorite characters.
-I could probably quote this movie word-for-word.

Did You Know.....?
-This film uses a lot of recycled animation due to it being made on a small budget. Meaning that some sequences were just animated over from past films to be in the current film. Some examples:

*When the elephant blows his trunk and is silenced, it is a recycled scene from "The Jungle Book".  

   *When Lady Kluck and Little John dance, it is recycled from the dance with Baloo and King Louie from "The Jungle Book".

*The dance between Robin Hood and Maid Marian is a recycled sequence from the dance between Thomas and Duchess in "The Aristocats".  Maid Marian also has a dance sequence recycled from "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs"

-The film has an alternate ending where Prince John is enraged that Robin Hood outwitted him again and follows him to a church where he is injured and hiding out. Prince John finds Maid Marian there tending to Robin's injuries. He raises a sword to kill them both but is stopped by his brother, King Richard, who has just returned from his crusade. Due to his mother's wishes, he doesn't banish John but severely punishes him. Richard orders Friar Tuck to marry Robin Hood and Maid Marian.

             

"Robin Hood" is one of Disney's best films. If you haven't seen it, or don't remember it, go watch it now!

-"Everybody Wants to be a Cat" has always been one of my favorite Disney songs.
-When my parents bought me this movie on VHS, I thought it was a new movie. My dad had to explain that he saw it when he was a kid.
-Berlioz is my favorite kitten. He's the cutest!

-Eva Gabor (Duchess) is famous for her role in the TV show, "Green Acres". She also voice Miss Bianca in "The Rescuers" and "The Rescuers Down Under".
-Monica Evans (Abigail) voices Maid Marian in "Robin Hood"
-Carole Shelley (Amelia) was the original Madame Morrible in "Wicked" the musical. She also voices Lady Cluck in "Robin Hood" and Lachesis the Fate in "Hercules".
-Hermione Baddely (Madame Adelaide) played the cook in "Mary Poppins".
-Pat Buttram (Napoleon)  is also famous for his role on the TV show, "Green Acres". He is also the voice of the Sheriff of Nottingham (Robin Hood) and Chief (The Fox and the Hound).
-This film was the last one that Walt Disney himself approved. It was produced after his death in 1966

Even if you are not a cat person, I think you will enjoy this movie. If not, then you probably have no sense of Disney appreciation. :) Ha! Just kidding! You can watch "The Aristocats" now on Netflix!

One of my favorite movies as a kid. It's always been a great one to watch as a family!

My Personal Thoughts/Memories of this film:
-I remember naming my first cat Sgt. Tibbs after the cat in this movie.
-My cousin Melissa is a huge Dalmatian fan, she was my role model when I was a kid. (Now she's one of my best friends/cousins) We bonded over our love of "Dalmatians".
-I was in elementary at the time the live-action version of this film came out. So I fully remember catching the 2nd wind of Dalmatian fever!
-I never thought of how much of a psychopath Cruella is until just now.
-"Kanine Krunchies" is a very catchy song!

Did You Know.....?
-They used the same live-action model that they used for Cinderella and Aurora for Anita.
-This film was made when they were just about to shut the animation studios down. (Sleeping Beauty was too expensive, and they didn't have the funds to keep it running) One of the animators came up with a Xerox process that allowed them to cut out the inking process. Unfortunately, they had to cut the staff from 500 to under 100.
-Walt Disney did not like the way "101 Dalmatians" looked. He thought that the animation had lost its fantasy.
-They purposely cast deeper voices for the dogs, so they would be more powerful than the human characters.
-Barbara Wentworth (Nanny) is also the voice of Madam Mim (The Sword in the Stone).
-J. Pat O'Malley (Jasper/Colonel) also performs the voices of Tweedledee,Tweedledum, the Walrus, Carpenter, Mother Oyster (Alice in Wonderland) and Colonel Hathi (The Jungle Book).
-Betty Lou Gerson (Cruella De Vil/Miss Birdwell) did the narration at the beginning of "Cinderella" (1950) but was uncredited.

I could probably think of 101 reasons for you to see this movie! Although, I will let you find those reasons yourself! I'm looking forward to a Blu-Ray release of this movie. :)
